| Before you go too far, I suggest you set up a meeting witht eh store management to tell them what you would like to do and why - and be prepared to provide supporting information with your school's support. You may suggest working with the Security/Loss prevention department. They - of anyone - knows where to be to observe people without being discovered. If yuo actually get this far, you will also need a wireless mic on the "fake fatty". Lavaliere mics are easy to hide. The mic's base station plugs into the camcorder - so hopfully the camcorder has a mic jack. Audio Technical makes a good, affordable, wireless lav set up. If the camcorder does not have a mic jack, there is not an easy way for you to be close enough to get good video and audio (remember, the mic is built-in to the camcorder)... unless the camcorder has "AV-in" and you can use a helmet cam. If you cannot get permission from the store management, I do not recommend you doing it anyway. It is their property (even if it is rented) and they are responsible for the safety and welfare of their customers... |

| If it really means that much to you forget buying pinhole cameras because they won't work. You can try holding a good (5mp) camera phone (using the night vision if necessary) in your hand but have it recording a movie the whole time then extract stills from that If you are truly bothered offer the security guy $50.
